May 9th
We raced at KAM. Ashley finished 2nd. Amber finished 8th. That is all I am going to say about that night of racing. It is a very long story. But it is part of racing. So we forget and forgive and move on.
May 2nd
We raced at Cowtown Speedway. There was 19 pure stock under 11 drivers. There was a total of 68 karts. Ashley was in the 1st heat race and Amber was in the 2nd heat race. Cowtown ran 2 feature races. Ashley started the first feature in 4th place. She was running 3rd place and the 4th place driver got into the back of her. He did not mean too. He is one heck of a driver. As soon as he got out of his kart he came over and told Ashley he was sorry. Ashley knows this is not the way he drives. He is a very clean racer. Ashley finished the race in 5th place. Amber started her feature in 7th place. She also finished the race in 7th place. This class is so close. There are alot of great drivers.
Also congratulations go to Madison Sherman, YRA teammate, on your heat and feature win at your favorite track "Cowtown".
April 26th
We had a double race at KAM Kartway. There was 13 pure stock karts. In the first feature, Ashley & Amber started side by side in 7th and 8th place. When the green flag dropped the Cox Girls were coming to the front. Ashley finished 3rd place with Amber hot on her tail for 4th place. In the second feature. the girls started side by side again in 5th and 6th place. Ashley finished 4th with Amber right behind her again to take 5th place.
April 11th
We raced at Cowtown Speedway. Amber was in the first heat race. She finished 3rd in the heat. Ashley was on the pole of the second heat race. She lead the heat race green to checkered to take the win. The way the girls finished there heat races placed them in different feature races. There was a total of 17 6.5hp Pure Stock Karts. Amber started the 1st feature on the second row outside (4th place). Amber crossed the finish line in 4th place behind one of Amber's farvorite racers, Ben Saye. On the last lap Ben was hit in the back tire by another racer and it bent Ben's axle. So when the race was over Ben went straight to his pit due to his axle besides going to the scales. Ben was DQ'd due to him not going to the scales. Ben is like us. He will always make weight. So 3rd place was awarded to Amber. Ashley started the 2nd feature on the pole. Ashley lead the first few laps when hard charger Trevor McIntire got around her. Ashley finished the feature in 2nd place.
Congratulations go to the YRA drivers for some GREAT finishes. Brett Yordy won his feature and Amber finished 3rd in same feature. Ashely finished 2nd in her feature. Anton Hernandez won his feature in the Stock Animal Class. Madison Sherman finished 5th in 3.5hp Beginner class feature.
April 5th
Raced at KAM Kartway. Ashley won a heat race and finished 3rd place in feature. Amber finished 7th place in feature.
April 4th
Cowtown Speedway is a GREAT place for us to race. They had 3 heat races of 6.5 Pure Stock Karts. Ashley was in the secon heat to bring home the heat WIN. Amber was in the third heat to finish 6th place. The girls was in the same feature race. Ashley started on the pole and Amber started in 8th place. Ashley lead the race from green to checkered to take the WIN. Amber finished 7th place in the feature.
March 21st
Double Race at Cowtown Speedway. Double races are always wild and crazy. Ashley finished 3rd in the first feature with Amber following a close 5th place behind her. In the second feature. Ashley finished 2nd with Amber in 4th place.
March 14th
Amber finished 5th in feature. She finished 2nd in her heat race. Ashley finished 2nd in feature. She WON her heat race.
March 9, 2008
We raced at Cowtown Speedway for the season opener (no points). Ashley and Amber started on the front row side by side for their heat race. Amber got the jump and hard charger Trevor McIntire on her tail. Ashley fell in for 3rd place. Amber lead for several laps until she drifted high coming out of a curve and Trevor took first place over. Amber finished 2nd and Ashley finished 3rd in the heat race. There was 3 heat races of 6.5 Pure Stocks under 11. The line up for the feature placed the girls in different features. (Yaaaaa for mom). Ashley started the first feature on the 3rd row inside (5th place). Ashley finished the feature in 3rd place. Amber started the second feature on the 2nd row inside (3rd place). Amber was having a great race. She fell back in the race but had made a hard charge back to the front. Amber was running 2nd place behind Marshall McKevy. Amber was passing a lap car and that car started to spin out and Amber turn the kart to keep from getting hit and makes contact with a big white tire that marks the in field. Oh NOOOO hang on for the ride. Amber rolled/flipped over. When Dad and Mom made it to her they had got her back on her wheels. Thanks go to Cowtown Speedway for having GREAT EMT's & an ambulance there every weekend. They made it to her before Dad and Mom did (We had to cross the whole track). She was smiling ear to ear. She was A OK. She never got out of the kart. She wanted to finish the race. Due to she caused the caution, she had to restart on the rear. She ended up at the end of the race in 6th place. She was upset that she hit that tire. But she was fine. This was the first flip/roll for the Cox Girls Racing Team.

Amber rolls it on the front stretch.

EMT first one to get to Amber. Everyone checking to make sure she is OK

March 1, 2008
The Cox Girls raced at KAM Kartway which was their first race of the Spring Series. This is going to be an interesting year. They will be running in the same class with each other. In Ashley's heat races, she finished 3rd in both. In Amber's heat races, she WON the first one and finished 2nd in the second heat race. They were in different heats, but were in the same feature race. There was a total of 13 Pure Stock drivers so then they split the feature race into two groups. They battled with each other every lap of the race for 3rd and 4th place. Amber had 3rd place for the first 15 laps and got tired and Big sister Ashley made the pass on the inside and took over 3rd place. Amber was not use to running 20 laps. Ashley finished the race in 3rd and Amber was right behind Ashley for 4th place. It was a great race. This was the first time to race each other so close for the whole race.
On the grid waiting to race.

Amber was so excited one of her best friends came and watched her race for the first time.
Thanks Brittany and Ms. Jennifer for coming and watching.
Feb. 2nd
We raced the World of Wheels (WoW) in Witcha Falls, TX. We had an awesome time.
Amber raced the Young Guns Class. She ran a 4 hp Honda engine sponsored by Jason Hammond. Amber finished 2nd in the first heat race but the first place kart did not make weight so he was DQ'd. So that put her winning the 1st heat race. She finished 2nd in the second heat. She started on the outside pole next to Robbi Blair of Graham, Texas. Robbi got her on the start and never made a mistake where Amber could pass. So Amber finished 2nd in the feature.
Ashely had a great day of racing. Ashely WON both of her heat races. She started on the pole for the feature next to hard charging Julie. Julie got the jump on the start and lead the race green to checkered with Ashley close behind. 3rd place went to Trevor McIntire of Azle, Texas.
It was a new experience for Ashley. She had never raced an indoor race before. She loved it. We all had a GREAT time. Looking forward to going back next year.
Below are a few pics from the race.

Jan. 26th
We raced at KAM Kartway. We had the pit meeting and ready to go out for hot laps. Phil had Amber's kart running while she was buckling in. Opps. There went the motor. LOCK UP!! That is not a good thing. Of course, dad forgot to put the back up motor in the trailor. It is sitting on the work bench at home. While Ashley is running hot laps. I used a friends truck and went to the house. It is about 10 miles. By the time I got back, Ashley had finished hot laps and Phil had Amber's motor off and ready to put the one I got on. Got the motor on. Ashley was in Heat 1 Group A. She won, leading every lap. Amber was in Heat 1 Group B. Amber finished 3rd place. The other classes ran their Heat 1's. Then it was Heat 2 time. Ashley finished 2nd in hers. Oh no more trouble. Phil went to start Amber for Heat 2 and the pull cord broke. Phil thought it was something else and they started the race. But ended up all we would of had to do is pull the side cover off and used a starter. So Amber did not get to race Heat 2. OK then it was intermission. So we went over the karts and checked everything. Time for the feature. Ashley started outside pole. She got the jump. But then a caution came out and there was a complete restart. She got the jump again. Ashley lead the race until 4,5 or maybe 6 laps to the end and Ashley started slowing. We could not figure out what was wrong. She ended up finishing the race in 2nd place. GREAT finish. Amber finished the feature in 4th place. She started 8th place. It took her a little while to get by some slower karts. But overall she had GREAT finish for the night she had. After the race was over, we checked Ashely's kart and she had a flat right rear due to the tire had moved in next to the frame of the kart. Which caused the problem. By the end of the night, I guess you could say we had GREAT finishes.
The only girls in the group photos below are the Cox Girls.
